Signage made in Berkshire, not shipped into it

Smart Signs Group is a Berkshire sign maker in the literal sense. Our workshop is on Longshot Lane in Bracknell, inside the county, and the design, the large format printing, the fabrication and the installation all happen from that one site. When you commission a sign from us it is drawn, built and fitted by the same company.

That matters more than it sounds. A great deal of signage sold in Berkshire is printed elsewhere and posted, or subcontracted to a fitting crew booked in for the day. If a panel comes back the wrong colour, or a survey measurement turns out to be wrong, the difference between an internal conversation and a chain of three suppliers is usually a fortnight.

What we make for Berkshire businesses

Shopfront signs for retail units and high street premises, including illuminated fascias, built up letters and tray signs.

Commercial signs for offices, trade counters and industrial units, including totems, monolith signs and site entrance boards.

Vehicle graphics and fleet livery for trades, contractors and delivery operators working across the county.

Office signs for reception areas, doors, meeting rooms and wayfinding.

Window graphics and displays for seasonal campaigns, privacy film and manifestation.

Hoardings and banners for construction sites, developments and events.

Installation across Berkshire and beyond

Our fitters hold CSCS, IPAF and PASMA accreditation, which is what a landlord, a managing agent or a shopping centre operator will ask to see before anyone is allowed onto a fascia or up a tower. That is the practical reason a Berkshire business ends up using a signage manufacturer rather than a printer: the paperwork to get on site is part of the job.

We are based in Bracknell but we design, manufacture and install nationwide, and we have delivered projects internationally. A Berkshire head office running premises elsewhere in the country can keep the whole estate with one supplier.

Where we work in Berkshire

We cover the county from the workshop, with Bracknell Forest, Wokingham Borough, Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough and West Berkshire all inside a comfortable working radius. Our nearest concentrations of work sit along the M4 corridor and the A322, and we regularly cross the county boundary into Surrey and north Hampshire.

For the towns where we do the most work, we have a dedicated page: signage in Bracknell, signage in Reading, signage in Camberley, signage in Farnborough and signage in Woking.

Why the county matters for pricing

Distance from the workshop is one of the quieter variables in a signage quote. A job in Berkshire is a short run for a survey, a short run for the install, and a short run again if a panel needs swapping under warranty. Work several counties away carries travel and, on a bigger job, accommodation. If you are comparing our quote with one from a national supplier, that is usually where part of the difference sits.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover the whole of Berkshire?

Yes. We work across Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough and West Berkshire from our workshop in Bracknell, and we install nationwide as well.

Do you make signs for businesses outside Berkshire?

Yes. We are based in Bracknell but we design, manufacture and install nationwide, and we have delivered projects internationally.

Does my sign need advertisement consent?

Most exterior signage in England needs advertisement consent from the local planning authority, and illuminated signage almost always does. Listed buildings and conservation areas bring extra conditions. We will tell you what is likely to apply at survey stage and can supply the drawings your application needs.

Can you repair or replace signage you did not originally supply?

Yes. Failed LEDs, damaged panels, faded vinyl and storm damage are all things we can look at, including on signage we did not originally supply.
