ESTABLISHED 2008 ยท MADE AND FITTED FROM OUR BRACKNELL WORKSHOP

Hoarding Signage and Banners

A site hoarding is on show for months, sometimes years, and it is often the first thing anyone sees of a development. Done well, it markets the scheme, hides the works and keeps the site looking professional. Done badly, it peels, fades and sends the wrong message about what is being built behind it.

WHAT WE MAKE

Types of Hoarding Signage We Produce

We design, print and install hoarding signage for construction sites, housing developments, commercial fit-outs and shop refurbishments across the UK. Our team handles the artwork, the large format printing in our own workshop and the installation on site, including erecting the hoard panelling itself, to the standard, budget and timeframe the project needs.

Printed development hoarding for Orford House on a residential street

Printed hoarding panels

Full-colour printed panels fixed to the hoarding frame, used for development marketing, CGIs of the finished building, sales messages and contact details.

St George branded construction hoarding along a city pavement

Construction hoarding graphics

Branding, contractor details, site rules and safety messaging for active building sites, laid out so the key information can be read from the pavement and the road. Once the building is finished, the same team makes the permanent commercial signage.

Laser Clinics shop front signage and fit-out hoarding in Putney

Shop and retail fit-out hoardings

Printed hoarding for store refurbishments and new openings, so the unit is still advertising what is coming rather than sitting behind blank boards. The permanent shop front signs and retail signage for the unit can follow from the same workshop.

Printed hoarding with painted door graphics around a terraced building refurbishment

Vinyl graphics on existing hoarding

Printed or cut vinyl applied directly to hoarding already in place, when the structure is sound but the message needs to change.

Virgin Atlantic printed banner on a freestanding outdoor frame

PVC and mesh banners

Banners for scaffolding, fencing, events and short-term campaigns. Mesh lets wind pass through, which matters on scaffolding and exposed sites.

Photos, rough sizes and any artwork are enough to start.

HOW IT WORKS

From Artwork to Installation

1

Measure and lay out

Every hoarding project starts with the site. We measure the run of hoarding, note the gates, corners and changes in level, then lay out the design across the panels so images and text do not break awkwardly at a joint.

2

Visual, sign-off and print

Our design team produces a visual showing how the finished hoarding will look, so the developer, contractor and marketing team can sign it off before anything is printed. Printing takes place in our own workshop on industry-leading machinery, which means colour can be matched to brand guidelines and panels can be reprinted quickly if a section is damaged later in the project.

3

Installed by our own team

Installation is carried out by our own team, who hold CSCS, IPAF and PASMA accreditation for working on site and at height. Principal contractors will usually ask for these before anyone is allowed on site, and we can provide them with the quote.

WHY SMART SIGNS

Why contractors and developers use us

One supplier

We erect the hoard panelling and install the graphics, so the whole job sits with one team.

Signed off before print

A visual of the whole run, laid out around gates and corners, approved before a panel is printed.

Fast reprints

Artwork is held in-house, so a damaged or outdated panel is reprinted and swapped on its own.

Cleared for site

CSCS, IPAF and PASMA accreditation, sent with the quote for the principal contractor.

Planning, Licences and Site Rules

Hoardings raise a few permissions that are worth checking early.

A hoarding that sits on or over the public pavement or road will usually need a licence from the local highway authority before it goes up. Advertising displayed on hoardings around building works can sometimes rely on permitted rules while the works are under way, but there are limits on size, location and duration, and conservation areas are treated differently. Some sites also have their own conditions set by the planning permission for the development.

We will flag what is likely to apply to your site when we survey it, so the design is drawn to fit the rules rather than altered after it has been printed.

What Affects the Price of Hoarding Signage

Length and height

Panel material

Hoard panelling

Site access

The run of hoarding and its height decide how many panels are printed. The material depends on how long the build will run and how exposed the site is. Erecting the hoard panelling as well as the graphics adds to the job, and so does restricted access or out-of-hours working on a busy street.

Send us the site address, the approximate length and height of the hoarding and any artwork or brand guidelines, and we will come back with a visual and an itemised price.

QUESTIONS

Hoarding Signage FAQs

What is hoarding signage?

Hoarding signage is the printed graphics fixed to the temporary boards that enclose a construction or refurbishment site. It hides the works, keeps the public safe and turns a long run of boarding into advertising space for the project.

Do you put up the hoarding as well as the graphics?

Yes. Our team can erect the hoard panelling and install the printed graphics, so the whole job sits with one supplier.

Can you replace damaged or outdated panels during a project?

Yes. Because the artwork is held and printed in-house, individual panels can be reprinted and swapped without redoing the whole run.

How long will printed hoarding last?

It depends on the material, the exposure of the site and how long the project runs. We will recommend a specification to suit the length of the build and tell you what to expect when we quote.

Do you work on sites outside Berkshire?

Yes. We are based in Bracknell, but we design, print and install hoarding signage nationwide.

Do you produce banners for events and scaffolding?

Yes. PVC and mesh banners are printed in our workshop for scaffolding, fencing, events and short campaigns.
