Most Woking retail work is a refit, not a new frontage

Woking's town centre retail is concentrated in managed schemes, principally Victoria Place and the Peacocks Centre, and that changes the nature of the job. You are rarely designing a shopfront from nothing. You are fitting a brand into a unit that has a landlord specification, an existing tray or lightbox that may or may not be worth keeping, and an access window that is not during trading hours.

The first question on a refit is whether the existing frame can stay. If the tray or lightbox is sound, a refaced panel is considerably cheaper than a full replacement. We will assess it at survey and tell you honestly if the frame is not worth keeping, because discovering that on install day is expensive for both of us.

Fitting around a landlord and around trading

Managed centres control who comes on site and when. Our fitters hold CSCS, IPAF and PASMA accreditation, which is what centre management will ask to see, and evening, overnight and Sunday installations are routine for retail work so the unit is not blocked while you are trading.

If your fit out is being run by a shopfitting contractor, we are happy to work as part of that programme. If it is not, we would rather deal with you directly than through a chain, because the person who quoted the job is then the person who owns it through to the fit.

Beyond the town centre

Woking is more than the centre. There is office and light industrial space around Old Woking and Sheerwater, and a spread of independent parades in the surrounding areas, all of which want commercial signage rather than retail branding. Those jobs are usually simpler, quicker and less constrained than a managed centre unit.
